How to become an Airline Pilot

Welcome to a modern airline pilot training programme

We train students from all over the world in our 18 month non stop training programme that takes you from zero experience to ready for airline jobs. We run a high-quality training programme in northern Sweden where we have one of the world’s most modern fleets and a unique study environment on the university campus. Once you have graduated, you will be rewarded with a European (EASA) commercial pilot licence making you eligible to fly as a first officer and apply for jobs at airlines worldwide. We collaborate with airlines in Sweden and Europe who help us create a training programme that airlines demand, and before your graduation we prepare you for upcoming job interviews with airlines.

How to become an airline pilot?

The airline pilot training programme (ATPL Integrated) is 18 months and you do not need to have any previous flight experience. The programme offers ground school studies supported by high-tech training equipment combined with practical flight training in aeroplanes as well as in our flight simulator.

Parallel to the flight training programme we focus on pilot core competencies which are highly sought after by the airlines. Our seminars and training focus on these areas are developed in cooperation with our partner airline. We also educate our students in commercial awareness which gives the student understanding of how an airline operates and the various roles involved in delivering safe and efficient air travel.

This education will give you a once-in-a-lifetime experience, although it will require a lot of dedication, commitment and hard work from you as a pilot student. But in the end it will be a rewarding career path if you love to fly, travel around the world and meet people from different countries and cultures.

The program offers ground school studies supported by high-tech training equipment combined with practical flight training in airplanes as well as in our flight simulator.

During your studies, you will live inside the campus area in a modern student room with high-speed internet. Together with your classmates you will learn theory in classroom and have regular training flights on our fleet of brand new aeroplanes. You will learn all theory required to operate as a commercial airline pilot, and you will do your flight training in single-engine and multi-engine airplanes.

An EASA CPL/ME/IR license with ATPL theory, APS MCC and A-UPRT.

How do I apply to the academy?

These are the steps you need to follow to apply to Green Flight Academy. If you have any questions, or need any assistance, just contact our service team at any time and we will guide you through the process.

You begin your journey by sending us a registration of interest  by filling out this form. We will contact you within three working days with more information about how to proceed to enrollment.

Once we have received your complete application,  we will set you up for an online qualification test. The online Pilot Aptitude Test is free of charge, but we will only send it to qualified candidates.

The next step is the Green Flight Academy qualification test. The test covers English language comprehension, basic mathematics and physics as well as a logical thinking and cognitive test section. The test will take you less than one hour.

You will do your test online at any time of your choosing. Please make sure to find a time and place where you are 100% focused on the test and where there are no distractions around you. Before doing the test, we recommend you do a refresher on basic mathematics and physics formulas. Remember, there are no obligations to enrol to the academy by doing the test. However it is necessary that you pass the test to be able to proceed to the final interview and acceptance.

If you are not able to pass, you will receive one more opportunity to pass the test after three weeks.

If you pass the test, you will be scheduled for a personal interview with representatives from the academy. The interview will be conducted via Microsoft Teams. The purpose of the interview is to get to know you and your qualifications better, as well as giving you as a student candidate the opportunity to ask us in person any questions you have about the training program.

You will receive an email from the academy within one week from the personal interview with a decision about acceptance or rejection. If you are accepted and want to move further we will send you a training contract. The contract has to be signed by you and returned to the academy, either in original or as an electronic copy, to be considered valid.

Once we receive your signed training contract we will issue an invoice for the registration fee.

Once we receive the registration fee you are officially registered at the academy. The next step is to plan your travel to Sweden, your accommodation and your personal needs for your stay in Sweden.

We will start planning your arrival and support you with documents for your VISA (if required). A few weeks before your course start you will also do pre-boarding in our e-learning system that will prepare for your studies with us.
