Our Training Philosophy
At Green Flight Academy, we offer a truly integrated ATPL program, designed and delivered exactly in line with EASA regulations. This means students train in both theory and flight simultaneously from the very beginning, just as an integrated program is meant to function.
A Seasonally Structured Journey
You’ll start your training with basic theory and VFR (Visual Flight Rules) flying, and for most students, their first flights are scheduled already in the second week. By combining theoretical knowledge with immediate hands-on flying experience, students build a strong foundation and gain a deep, applied understanding of aviation from day one.
As you progress, you’ll enter the first phase of ATPL theory studies in a more intensive format. During the summer months, when Skellefteå offers exceptional weather and long daylight hours with midnight sun, the focus shifts to flying. This includes solo flights, cross-country navigation, VFR operations, and completion of Advanced UPRT (Upset Prevention and Recovery Training).
In autumn and winter, students continue with theory studies, complemented by night flying and training in real Nordic winter conditions. This structured, seasonal approach allows for a dynamic and immersive training experience, where both academic learning and personal growth are central.

Student-Centered and Coaching-Based Approach
Our highly engaged and learning-focused school environment allows us to focus on individual progress and mentorship. Every student is coached not just as a future pilot, but as a professional. We place strong emphasis on pilot core competencies—a set of behavioral and technical skills that are both part of our grading system and a central theme throughout your training.
We hold regular seminars in communication, leadership, decision-making, and teamwork, all directly linked to airline operations. Many of these sessions are scenario-based and led by instructors who are active airline captains, bringing real-world insight into the classroom.
Airline Focus from Day One
Through our collaborations with SAS and Braathens Airlines, we gain valuable insight into airline recruitment profiles and expectations. This allows us to better guide and prepare our students for the transition from student to first officer.
While the current pilot job market is strong, a license alone is not a job guarantee. Airlines seek pilots who are not only technically competent, but also mature, communicative, and able to lead—those who understand not just their own role, but the operation as a whole. Our mission is to help you become exactly that kind of pilot: employable, capable, and ready to contribute safely and effectively in a multi-crew airline environment.
